The efforts made of late to get rid of
criminal aliens by banishment, and to stimulate the Police to
more effective action, together with the specific remedies
detailed in this Despatch have I am glad to report had a good
effect as shown by the attached comparison of criminal statis-
-tics of the last 6 months with previous returns.
